Obverse description Three-quarter facing portrait of the Venetian painter Jacopo Robusti, known as Tintoretto, set within an oval beaded border. The artist's Latinized name and epithet appear as a circumscribed legend around the oval frame, reading JACOBVS TINCTORETTVS VENETVS PICTOR CELEBERR. The state title REPUBBLICA ITALIANA is inscribed in the field above, and the commemorative dates 1524-1994 appear below the portrait, flanked by a small caret symbol. The engraver's signature M.A. CASSOL is present in the lower field.
