Obverse description Two classical allegorical female figures in intaglio, robed and crowned, flank a central vignette with the denomination numeral; elaborate floral and foliate guilloche borders frame the composition, with oval blank spaces at left and right centre. An orange cameo portrait of a woman in classical dress appears at top centre, set within a circular medallion. The issuer's name and denomination are inscribed in bold letterpress across the middle of the note, with the restriction legend printed in orange along the lower margin.

Reverse description Central intaglio vignette within an oval frame presents three allegorical figures representing Agriculture, Industry and Commerce, seated and standing upon a sculptural plinth, with a winged caduceus and sheaf of wheat among the attributes. The Banca d'Italia circular seal in orange, dated and bearing the fasces emblem, is placed at the upper centre between scroll cartouches bearing the bank's name. The surrounding field is filled with intricate guilloche underprint in violet and gold, with the denomination '1000' repeated in the four corners.
