正面描述 Against a deeply mirrored proof field, the stylized ECU monogram occupies the central device, rendered in bold interlocking script lettering with the date 1995 inscribed below. The monogram is encircled by a ring of twelve five-pointed stars, evoking the European unity emblem. The bilingual legend РЕПУБЛИКА БЪЛГАРИЯ arcs along the upper periphery in Cyrillic, while REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA curves along the lower periphery in Latin characters, the two separated by raised dot stops at each side.

背面描述 A detailed frontal view of the Rozhen National Astronomical Observatory dominates the central field, its characteristic cylindrical dome rising above a terraced base structure, flanked by conifer trees and distant mountain peaks rendered in fine relief. Surrounding the observatory in the upper field, stellar constellation maps are depicted with dotted star patterns connected by engraved lines, while a semicircular arc of twelve five-pointed stars echoes the ECU motif from the obverse. The denomination legend 1000 ЛЕВА is inscribed in bold Cyrillic characters along the lower exergue.

附加信息

Bulgaria's Rozhen National Astronomical Observatory, opened in 1981 in the Rhodope Mountains, operates the largest telescope in the Balkans. This coin was issued the same year Bulgaria joined the European Southern Observatory as an associate member — a modest but deliberate signal of the country's scientific ambitions during a difficult post-communist economic transition, when the lev itself was losing value rapidly enough that a 1000-leva denomination felt almost mundane.
