The Kwanza Reajustado was Angola's attempt to stabilize a currency in freefall. Introduced in 1995 at a conversion rate of 1,000 old Kwanzas to 1 Kwanza Reajustado, it barely had time to function before hyperinflation consumed it too — the entire series was replaced by the readjusted Kwanza in 1999, itself then scrapped for the reconverted Kwanza in the same year.

Angola cycled through five distinct currency units between 1977 and 1999, each one a response to a war economy the Luanda government could not bring under control while UNITA and MPLA fighting continued in the interior.
