Beschrijving keerzijde A high-relief engraved depiction of the RMS Titanic under steam occupies the left portion of the field, rendered in three-quarter bow view with four funnels and rigging visible, navigating stylized waves; a flag bearing a star flies from the foremast. To the right, a circular colour insert depicts a dramatic scene of the Titanic listing sharply and sinking bow-first into dark, turbulent waters, rendered in blue, black, and orange tones. The legend TITANIC arcs boldly along the upper periphery in large block capitals. The inscription APRIL 15. 2.20 a.m. 1912 curves along the lower exergue, recording the precise date and time of the sinking.

Aanvullende informatie

Zambia's late-1990s commemorative program was essentially a licensing operation — the Bank of Zambia issued dozens of thematic collector pieces bearing little relationship to Zambian history or monetary need, timed almost entirely around marketable anniversaries. This piece appeared the year after James Cameron's film grossed over $1.8 billion worldwide, and the "2nd obverse" designation indicates at least two distinct die versions were produced for the same release, a detail that rewards variety collectors more than it reflects any minting necessity.
