| 背面描述 | The bow of the R.M.S. Titanic is depicted in relief at the left of the field, shown underway at sea with waves rendered beneath the hull and the White Star Line flag flying from the bow. To the right occupies a circular colour insert depicting the SOS distress signal in Morse code, with the inscriptions '0.15 a.m.', 'CQD-MGY', and '2.17 a.m.' referencing the timeline of the ship's final distress calls. The legend TITANIC arcs boldly along the upper periphery, while the commemorative inscription APRIL 15, 2.20 a.m. 1912 curves along the lower rim, recording the official time and date of the vessel's sinking. A beaded border frames the entire design. |

Zambia's late-1990s commemorative program was frankly opportunistic — the Titanic coin series timed its release to coincide with James Cameron's December 1997 blockbuster, not with any meaningful centennial or maritime anniversary. The Bank of Zambia had no historical connection to the disaster whatsoever. These were produced for the collector market through private minting arrangements, a common workaround for smaller issuing authorities seeking foreign exchange revenue from numismatic sales.
The "2nd obverse" designation indicates a revised effigy — likely a portrait correction required after the first version drew objection or failed licensor approval.
