Descrizione del dritto	The obverse features the coat of arms of Zambia centrally positioned in the field, depicting a man and a woman as supporters flanking a shield charged with wavy lines symbolizing the Victoria Falls, surmounted by a fish eagle with spread wings atop crossed pickaxe and hoe. A scroll at the base of the arms bears the national motto in the legend. The country name ZAMBIA is inscribed in a wide arc along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1000 KWACHA appears along the lower periphery. The date 2014 is divided on either side of the central device, with a beaded border encircling the entire design.

Descrizione del rovescio	The reverse presents two polychrome-colored Red Ruffed Lemurs (Varecia rubra) rendered in naturalistic detail against a milled silver field; a larger specimen is depicted seated on a log in the lower foreground, while a second individual perches on a branch in the upper right. To the upper left, a globe inset with a red crystal stone pinpoints the species' native range in Madagascar. Foliage elements appear in the background. The legend ENDANGERED ANIMAL SPECIES arcs along the upper and right periphery, with RED RUFFED LEMUR inscribed along the left side in the field.
