| Obverse description | The arms of Zambia occupy the central field, depicting two human supporters flanking a shield decorated with wavy lines, surmounted by a fish eagle with outstretched wings and crossed pick and hoe. A scroll at the base bears the national motto ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION. The legend BANK OF ZAMBIA arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 19 98 divided on either side of the shield.
