| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Zambia occupies the central field, depicting a shield supported by two human figures in traditional dress, surmounted by an African fish eagle with wings displayed. A scrolled ribbon at the base bears the national motto ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION. The date 19 98 is divided and flanked to either side of the supporters. The legend BANK OF ZAMBIA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1000 KWACHA appears in large raised lettering along the lower portion of the field. |
