| Obverse description | The Zambian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield with vertical wavy lines in the national colours, supported by a man in traditional dress to the left and a woman in traditional dress to the right, with an African fish eagle displayed above the shield and a scroll bearing the motto ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION in the exergue. The legend BANK OF ZAMBIA arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 1999 divided across the left and right fields flanking the supporters.
