| Obverse description | The Zambian national coat of arms is depicted at centre, supported by two human figures flanking a vertically striped shield surmounted by an African fish eagle with spread wings. The date is split to either side of the arms, with the year divided across the left and right fields. The curved legend BANK OF ZAMBIA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1000 KWACHA is inscribed along the lower periphery. A scroll bearing the national motto appears below the shield at the base of the arms. |
