| Obverse description | Oval flan with a beaded border. At the top of the field, the legend ZAMBIA arcs along the upper rim. At center right, a right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, bareheaded with a diadem, in the style of the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait. The year of issue is split either side of the portrait, reading 20 and 00. Below, the Zambian coat of arms is displayed prominently, featuring two human supporters, an eagle, and a shield, with the denomination 1000 KWACHA inscribed along the lower rim. |
