Zambia produced a series of large-format copper-nickel issues around 2000 aimed squarely at the thematic collector market rather than circulation — Cook appearing on Zambian coinage has nothing to do with the country's history and everything to do with the international novelty coin trade that the Bank of Zambia leaned into heavily during this period. These pieces were sold through dealers and were never intended to pass through Lusaka's economy.
