Reverse description The reverse displays two color-printed Asian elephants — a calf to the left and an adult to the right — facing one another with trunks touching, rendered in naturalistic brown tones against a textured silver field with tropical foliage in the lower field. In the upper portion of the field, a globe in relief highlights Asia, inset with a faceted amber-colored crystal gemstone positioned over the Asian continent. The arching legend 'ENDANGERED ANIMAL SPECIES' curves along the upper left, while 'ASIAN ELEPHANT' appears across the upper right of the field.

Additional information

Zambia's wildlife coin program of the 2000s and 2010s was prolific to the point of cynicism — hundreds of issues, most destined for the collector cabinet rather than any pocket. This piece was never legal tender in any meaningful sense; the face value is fictionally high relative to Zambia's actual monetary denominations in circulation, and the Asian elephant subject has no geographic connection to the country whatsoever.

Silver-plated copper-nickel is the budget tier of the commemorative market, produced primarily for bullion-adjacent retail at low price points.
