The "no top and bottom border" designation refers to a deliberate design revision made to the 1000 Krónur series during this period — the earlier bordered version (P#58) had been in circulation since 2001, and the stripped border variant introduced a cleaner edge treatment that became the definitive format for the remaining print runs through 2009. Thomas De La Rue produced both variants from London, making the visual difference between them the primary distinguishing factor for collectors working without reference numbers.
Iceland's relatively small circulation volumes mean surviving examples from specific print years within the 2004–2009 window are not always easy to attribute precisely by date.
