Opmerkingen

The Law of 2001 series was Iceland's first complete redesign of banknotes since the 1980s, with Thomas De La Rue producing a set built around Icelandic cultural and scientific figures. The 1000 krónur denomination in this series carries a security profile that looks modest against contemporaries — the watermark is essentially the primary visible feature, without the foil strips or color-shifting inks that had become routine at major European central banks by that point.

Pick 59A is the earlier date variant; a later printing followed. De La Rue's involvement here was straightforward contract work — no particularly notable plate history or subcontracting complications are documented for this issue.
