1000 Krónur Danmarks Nationalbank, second issue

Denmark's 1000-krone note was the highest denomination in regular circulation for most of this series' lifespan, which made it a persistent target for counterfeiters during the 1980s. The relative simplicity of the security features — a watermark being the most prominent — reflects printing standards that were already considered conservative for a high-value note by the time the series entered its final years.

The second issue ran across an unusually long window, from 1978 through 1994, with multiple date variants within the series. Later-dated examples from the early 1990s are noticeably harder to find in unhandled condition, likely due to continued heavy use before the denomination was replaced.
