| Opmerkingen |
The 1000 Kroner "Famous Men and Women" series was designed by Kristian Jakobsen and Arne Ungermann and entered circulation in 1998 as part of a broader redesign of Danish banknotes that had been in development for years. At face value, it is a high-denomination workhorse, the largest note in ordinary Danish circulation. The signature combinations across the A0 and A1 prefixes reflect the transition between Governors during the note's early production run — Nielsen's replacement by Thomsen midway through the prefix sequence is the most visible administrative marker of that changeover.
Danmarks Nationalbank operated its own in-house printing works from 1818 until 2016, when production was outsourced to Giesecke+Devrient. This note is among the later issues of that long self-printing tradition.
