Intaglio-printed in blue-violet on plain paper, the design is framed by an elaborate guilloche border with the denomination numeral 1000 repeated in each corner within ornate cartouches. An oval portrait vignette at left bears the likeness of Stortingspresident W.F.K. Christie, while a corresponding oval vignette at right carries a portrait of Admiral Peder Wessel Tordenskiold, both rendered in fine line engraving. | Descripción del reverso |
The central vignette presents the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, the medieval shrine of Norway's patron saint St. Olav, rendered in detailed intaglio engraving. To the left of the cathedral appears the profile head of a Viking king, while to the right the royal arms of Norway are surrounded by the armorial shields of the six Norwegian bishoprics: Christiania, Bergen, Hamar, Trondheim, Kristiansand, and Tromsø. The whole composition is enclosed within a guilloche border with repeated denomination numerals at the corners. |
