The P#52 1000 Kroner series was printed by Norges Bank Seddeltrykk, the central bank's in-house printing facility — one of relatively few European countries that maintained sovereign banknote production rather than contracting to specialist printers like De La Rue or Giesecke & Devrient. The 1000 Kroner denomination sat at the top of Norwegian circulation during this period, making it a natural target for counterfeiting and the primary driver behind the hologram strip added to this series.
Notes from the 2004 date prefix are noticeably scarcer in collector holdings than the 2001 issues, as the series was phased out relatively quickly when the redesigned eighth series entered circulation.
