Beschrijving keerzijde The outline map of Slovakia is depicted in relief at the centre of the field, with radiating lines emanating from behind the map to fill the background. The founding year 1993 and the anniversary year 2003 appear to the left of the map. The denomination 1000 SK is inscribed prominently at the top of the field. A ribbon banner below the map bears the commemorative inscription 10 ROKOV SLOVENSKEJ REPUBLIKY in three lines of bold lettering. A small floral ornament appears at the lower point of the square flan.

Aanvullende informatie

Slovakia's 10th anniversary fell in 2003, a decade after the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia on January 1, 1993 — an event often called the Velvet Divorce, deliberately echoing the Velvet Revolution that preceded it. The split was negotiated without referendum, a fact that remained politically contentious for years afterward.

KM#63 was issued by Národná banka Slovenska at a point when Slovak accession to the EU was already confirmed, making this one of the last major commemorative korún issues before the eventual transition to the euro in 2009.
