Descrizione del dritto A highly detailed proof-quality depiction of Pha That Luang, the iconic gilded Buddhist stupa and national symbol of Laos, rendered in bold relief at the centre of the field. The monument is shown frontally, with its characteristic tiered base, ornate gateway, and surrounding minor stupas depicted with architectural precision. The legend BANK OF THE LAO PDR arcs along the upper left periphery, with the fineness designation Ag 999.9 inscribed vertically to the right and 3 OZ to the left of the central motif. The denomination 1000 KIP appears in the lower exergue in large Latin characters. A beaded inner border frames the design, with a reeded edge visible at the rim.

Descrizione del rovescio The reverse features a dynamic, gold-plated composition depicting multiple male athletes engaged in various track and field disciplines, including sprinting, hurdling, high jump, long jump, pole vault, and javelin throw. The field is divided into two contrasting halves — the left rendered with a black background and the right with a polished silver field — unified by a central vertical band bearing the inscription OLYMPIC GAMES and the five-ring Olympic symbol surmounted by a flag. The figures are finished in gold plating, creating a vivid two-tone aesthetic. Curved athletic track lines sweep across the lower portion of the design, and the date 2024 is inscribed in the lower exergue.

Informazioni aggiuntive

Laos has issued commemorative collector coinage with increasing regularity since the 1990s, largely through partnerships with European minting houses targeting the international numismatic market rather than domestic circulation. This piece follows that pattern — struck for export sale, not for use in Vientiane.

The .9999 fine silver substrate with gold plating is a format pushed heavily by private mint contractors in the 2020s, where bimetallic appearances are achieved through surface treatment rather than true alloy work.
