| Aversbeschreibung | The obverse reproduces the design of the circulating 1000 Hryvnia banknote in struck silver, presenting a high-relief portrait bust of the scientist Volodymyr Vernadskyi facing three-quarters left, wearing round spectacles, set against a dynamic geometric and floral background. To the upper left, the Cyrillic legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine) appears alongside the facsimile signature of the NBU Governor and the word ГОЛОВА (Head). A large denomination numeral ₴1000 occupies the lower left field, while a multicolour holographic security element in the form of a stylised flower or flame motif is applied to the upper right portion of the design. The name ВОЛОДИМИР ВЕРНАДСЬКИЙ appears in decorative script at the lower centre, with the quotation Я вірю у величне майбутнє України (I believe in the great future of Ukraine) inscribed in script to the right, accompanied by a facsimile signature of Vernadskyi. Vernadsky was a Ukrainian-born geochemist whose concept of the "noosphere" — the idea that human thought constitutes a geological force — earned him a reputation across Soviet science that Moscow was never entirely comfortable with. The 1000 hryvnia denomination itself is Ukraine's highest, introduced in 2019 as a circulating banknote with Vernadsky's portrait; this silver piece commemorates that design rather than circulating alongside it.
The .999 silver format at this weight places it firmly in Ukraine's tradition of large-format collector issues produced through the Kyiv-based Banknote Printing and Minting Works, which has operated independently of Russian minting infrastructure since 1994.
