Obverse description Printed in black on white paper, the obverse bears a vignette of Minerva at top centre, set within an elaborate ornamental border with the denomination numeral 1000 repeated in each corner. The central text panel contains the bank's promise-to-pay inscription in Dutch, recording the place and date of issue, which varies across examples issued between 1 April 1859 and 3 January 1921.
