Obverse description Central field features a decorative pile of stones surmounted by a yin-yang symbol, evoking traditional Chinese auspicious motifs. Tall bamboo stalks (Bambusoideae sp.) rise in the background, rendered in low relief against the polished field. The surrounding legend includes Chinese simplified characters, Cyrillic, and Latin inscriptions conveying the themes of love, wealth, and longevity. The denomination, issuing authority, date, and silver fineness appear in the lower portion of the legend.

Reverse description A large, dynamically posed rooster (Gallus gallus domesticus) dominates the field in full color applied over a proof-finish silver surface, depicted mid-flight with wings fully spread and long ornamental tail feathers sweeping dramatically across the lower field. The bird is rendered in vivid shades of amber, red, and gold, with talons outstretched, set against a stylized full moon in the upper field and cloud motifs to the left. To the lower right, the Chinese simplified character 鸡 (rooster) is struck in raised relief with gilt coloring, accompanied by the Cyrillic legend ГОД ПЕТУХА (Year of the Rooster) inscribed vertically along the right rim.

Additional information

Cameroon's numismatic output since the 1990s has been almost entirely the work of European licensing firms — chiefly the Scottsdale Mint and various intermediaries working through the Central African CFA franc issuing authority — producing themed collector pieces with little connection to domestic monetary circulation. This rooster issue is one of dozens of lunar-themed coins struck under similar arrangements across multiple African CFA nations simultaneously, often sharing identical specifications and differing only in the issuing country's name.

The coins are legal tender in name only. None circulate.
