| 裏面の説明 | A dynamic figure of a football player in full kit is depicted in the centre of the field, dribbling a ball at his feet, rendered in high relief. Behind him, a large oval stadium is shown in perspective, evoking the Maracanã. The upper legend BRÉSIL - 1950 arcs above the central motif, while the lower legend COUPE MONDIALE DE FOOTBALL curves along the bottom periphery. The issue year 2001 appears in small characters to the lower right of the central design. |

Chad issued this piece as part of a wave of commemorative silver struck by central African nations in the late 1990s and early 2000s — nearly all of them produced by European mints for collector export rather than domestic circulation. The 1950 World Cup in Brazil is the subject: the tournament famously held its final as a round-robin rather than a knockout match, meaning Brazil needed only a draw against Uruguay in the Maracanã to claim the title. They lost 2–1, a defeat so traumatic it acquired its own name in Brazilian football culture — the Maracanazo.
