| Beschrijving voorzijde | The face of this early nineteenth-century Banque de France note is set within an elaborate engraved border composed of neoclassical vignettes: allegorical figures, putti, cornucopiae, and winged creatures occupy the four corners and lateral cartouches, all executed in fine intaglio. The Banque de France circular seal appears to the left of centre, while the denomination 'mille francs.' is rendered in a bold letterpress typeface at centre, beneath the issue and payment clauses. Three manuscript signature fields for the Contrôleur, Directeur, and Caissier Principal are distributed across the lower half, with series and folio numbers printed in the upper corners. |
