Djibouti's central bank has issued collector silver in limited runs since the early 2000s, primarily targeting the European and Asian bullion-medal market rather than domestic circulation. The kilogram format places this squarely in that category — produced for cabinet storage, never for the souk.
Lions are functionally extinct in Djibouti and have been for well over a century, which gives the subject an odd remove from local natural history.
