Cameroon has no meaningful numismatic tradition of its own regarding the sphinx — this is a coin issued under licensing arrangements typical of the modern "world mint" industry, where sovereign names are leased to private minting companies (primarily European) to produce collectibles with no intended circulation. The Republic of Cameroon has appeared on hundreds of such issues since the 2010s, its name functioning essentially as a legal vehicle.
KM#692 places this within a catalog sequence that has expanded rapidly as collector-market themed issues multiplied. The selective gilding technique used here was pioneered commercially in the 1990s and remains a standard finishing option for the bullion novelty market.
