Obverse description The national coat of arms of Cameroon occupies the central field, depicting a shield bearing scales of justice surmounted by a five-pointed star, flanked by two crossed fasces with axe heads. A scroll beneath the shield carries the bilingual legends REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON and REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN arcs along the upper rim, with the bilingual motto PAIX / PEACE at left and TRAVAIL / WORK at top centre and PATRIE / FATHERLAND at upper right. The date 2023 appears in the upper field, and the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is inscribed in large characters along the lower rim, with the fineness mark Ag 999 to the lower left of the shield.

Reverse description A detailed coloured depiction of the exterior of the Basílica de la Sagrada Família dominates the centre-right of the field, rendered with vivid polychrome enamel highlighting its soaring spires and intricate Gothic-Art Nouveau stonework. To the left, the ornate facade of Casa Milà (La Pedrera) is shown in complementary colour, both landmark works of architect Antoni Gaudí in Barcelona, Spain. A colourful decorative mosaic band, evoking Gaudí's characteristic trencadís tile work, runs along the upper portion of the field. Gaudí's facsimile cursive signature appears in the lower field beneath the architectural composition.
