The Banque de Guyane was established in 1851 as one of the colonial issuing banks created under Napoleon III's government to serve French overseas territories. This 1000 Francs note belongs to a commemorative or collector series rather than genuine circulation issue — the Franc ceased to be legal tender in French Guiana in 2002 when the Euro took over, making any franc-denominated note dated 2023–2025 a deliberate retrospective production, not a monetary instrument.
A single watermark as the sole listed security feature is consistent with a low-security commemorative print rather than a circulation-grade note. Franck Medina is a French Guianese artist, which suggests a locally commissioned design rather than a metropolitan French printing contract.
