Guinée's modern gold collector series has issued coins under agreements with the European mint house MDM (Münzhandelsgesellschaft), producing small-format pieces that technically qualify as legal tender while functioning entirely as numismatic products. Gauck served as German Federal President from 2012 to 2017 — the first East German to hold the office, having spent decades as a Protestant pastor and civil rights advocate before leading the federal agency responsible for Stasi records.
