Guinea's commemorative silver program has leaned heavily on the natural world series since the mid-2010s, with individual leaf designs struck in high relief against a frosted field. The birch specifically was chosen as part of a broader botanical sequence rather than for any particular national significance — birch is not native to Guinea.
KM#70 was produced by a European contract mint, as the Banque Centrale de la République de Guinée has no domestic striking facility.
