Chad's "Forgotten Cultures" series was among several African nation issues produced during the late 1990s by European mints — primarily for the collector market — under licensing arrangements that had little to do with Chad's own monetary history. The Jericho subject references one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements on earth, with archaeological evidence of occupation dating back roughly 11,000 years, predating written history entirely.
These issues never circulated in Chad.
