1000 Francs 'Département de la Réunion'

The Institut d'Émission des Départements d'Outre-Mer was established in 1959 specifically to handle currency for France's overseas departments after the Caisse Centrale de la France d'Outre-Mer ceded that function. Réunion's notes were printed at the Banque de France's own workshops in Paris — the same facility producing metropolitan French currency — which kept production quality uniform across the republic but made these issues administratively distinct from the DOM's earlier colonial-era paper.

Postel-Vinay served as director general of the Caisse des Dépôts before his role here; Calvet was a career technocrat at the Treasury. Their paired signatures on this series date it firmly to the mid-1960s administrative structure before later signature changes updated the issue.
