Additional information

Benin's CFA franc coinage issued under its own national identity is largely a product of the collector market rather than circulation — the country conducts everyday transactions through the West African CFA franc system administered by the BCEAO, leaving individual member states to issue commemorative silver almost exclusively for export sale. This zebra piece is one of dozens of wildlife-themed issues produced for Benin by European minting houses during the early 2000s, a period when several small CFA-zone nations discovered that their nominal issuing authority could generate hard currency revenue through numismatic programs.

KM#64 has no particular production anomaly on record.
