| Obverse description | The coat of arms of the Republic of Benin occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported by two leopards rampant, surmounted by a star above a decorative crest. The shield's quarters display a castle tower, a sailing ship, palm trees, and traditional symbols respectively. A ribbon below the shield bears the national motto in Latin script: FRATERNITE JUSTICE TRAVAIL.
