| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Burkina Faso is depicted centrally in high relief, featuring a shield supported by two horses and adorned with traditional motifs. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU BURKINA FASO arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is inscribed below the arms. The fineness mark 1OZ AG .999 appears in the lower field. The entire design is struck on an irregularly shaped planchet formed in the outline of the African continent, with an antiqued silver finish. |

Burkina Faso has no pandas, no historical or diplomatic connection to China that would explain this issue, and no numismatic tradition of its own driving it. These pieces are produced under licensing arrangements through European bullion and novelty coin distributors — primarily Swiss and German intermediaries — who secure issuing rights from cash-strapped West African states and then design, mint, and sell the coins themselves. The host country receives a fee; the distributor retains the margin.
KM#100 is part of a broader "World's 8" shaped-coin series. The irregular format is the commercial hook.
