Obverse description The obverse features the national coat of arms of Burkina Faso at center, rendered in full color: a shield divided horizontally in red over green, bearing a central yellow five-pointed star, flanked by two rampant white stallions and surmounted by two crossed black spears with arrowheads pointing upward. Below the shield, the national motto appears in three parts in the field: UNITÉ, PROGRÈS, JUSTICE. The legend BURKINA FASO arcs above the coat of arms in yellow lettering, while the circular outer legend REPUBLIQUE DU BURKINA FASO runs along the upper rim in relief. The denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is inscribed in large raised lettering across the lower portion of the field.

Additional information

Burkina Faso has no coastline, no navy, and no submarine program — which is precisely the point. The landlocked Sahelian state issues coins like this under arrangements with the Monnaie de Paris and private minting intermediaries, producing large-format titanium novelties that bear its name purely as a licensing vehicle. The actual 1000 Francs CFA denomination is issued by the BCEAO for everyday commerce in West Africa; these pieces exist in an entirely separate commercial reality, marketed to European collectors.
