The Santísima Trinidad was a 140-gun Spanish first-rate launched in Havana in 1769 and rebuilt to a four-deck configuration sometime around 1795 — making her the largest warship afloat for much of her operational life. She was captured by the British at Trafalgar in October 1805 and sank under tow two days later during a violent storm, never reaching port.
Benin issues coins under the CFA franc framework but holds no historical connection to this subject; the piece belongs to a long-running series of Beninese collector silver using foreign maritime themes to drive numismatic sales. Mintage on these issues is typically controlled and low, aimed squarely at the thematic collector market rather than circulation.
