The Gabar goshawk (Micronaus gabar) is native to sub-Saharan Africa, making it an unusual subject for a Central African States issue — the bird falls well outside the BEAC zone's territory in any meaningful ecological sense. These wildlife-themed silver pieces from the early 2000s were struck almost exclusively for the collector and bullion novelty market, with negligible circulation in member states Chad, Cameroon, Gabon, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, or Equatorial Guinea.
