| 背面描述 | A naturalistic spray of cocoa (Theobroma cacao) branches occupies the central field, rendered in fine relief with detailed depiction of elongated cocoa pods, blossoms, and compound leaves. The denomination 1000 FRANCS is prominently inscribed in two lines in the upper field above the botanical motif. A circular legend running around the periphery names the six member states of the Central African monetary union, separated by periods. |

The BEAC issued this piece in 2002 to mark the eurozone's cash changeover — the moment when twelve European nations simultaneously retired their physical currencies in January of that year. The connection to Central Africa is indirect but deliberate: the CFA franc issued by BEAC is pegged to the euro at a fixed rate of 655.957, guaranteed by the French Treasury, a monetary arrangement that dates to 1945 and remains politically contentious to this day.
The coin is a commemorative with no circulation mandate, produced for the collector market.
