The HMS Queen Charlotte was a 100-gun first-rate ship of the line that served as the flagship of Lord Howe at the Battle of the Glorious First of June in 1794 — Britain's first major naval engagement of the French Revolutionary Wars. Howe's decision to break the French line at close quarters, controversial among his captains, delivered six captured ships and one sunk, though the grain convoy the French were escorting reached port regardless.
The CFA franc zone issues of this type are struck for collector export, carrying no meaningful circulation history in the issuing states.
