Obverse description The national coat of arms of Burkina Faso occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a central five-pointed star, flanked by two rearing horses as supporters, with crossed spears behind the shield and an open book below. A scroll above the shield bears the country name BURKINA FASO, while a lower scroll carries the national motto in three segments. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU BURKINA FASO arcs around the upper field, and the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is inscribed prominently at the base.

The legend H.M.S. EURYALUS - 1803 arcs along the upper periphery in bold raised lettering. The year of issue 2014 appears in the lower left field.
