Togo qualified for the 2006 World Cup in Germany — their first and, to date, only appearance at the tournament — under circumstances that nearly ended before they arrived. A government funding dispute left the squad threatening to boycott their own opening match, and FIFA intervened directly to resolve the financial standoff. They lost all three group stage matches and were eliminated without a point.
Issued a year after the tournament, this is a commemorative with no pretense of circulation history.
