| 背面描述 | A group of four African elephants — three adults and one calf — is depicted walking in procession through savanna grass, rendered in finely detailed relief against a proof field. Two large curved elephant tusks are prominently displayed in the lower portion of the field, framing the design. The date 1993 appears at the lower left, and the inscription ELEPHANT is positioned at the bottom center. The legend PRESERVATION DE LA NATURE arcs across the upper field. |

The Republic of the Congo — not to be confused with the neighboring Democratic Republic — was in the middle of a turbulent political transition in 1993, having only formally abandoned single-party Marxist rule in 1991. Commemorative silver issues from this period were produced almost entirely for the export collector market, with essentially none entering domestic circulation. The country's actual currency was, and remains, administered by the BEAC across six Central African states.
