| 表面の説明 | The national coat of arms of Burkina Faso occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a central five-pointed star, supported by two rampant stallions on either side, with crossed spears and a traditional hoe behind the shield. An open book appears at the base of the arms, flanked by laurel branches. A scroll beneath the supporters bears the national motto in Latin script: 'Unité Progrès Justice'. The legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU BURKINA FASO' arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination '1000 FRANCS CFA' is inscribed in bold relief along the lower portion of the field. |

Burkina Faso has no legal authority to issue its own coinage — the country is a member of the West African Economic and Monetary Union and uses the CFA franc governed by the BCEAO. These pieces are struck under licensing arrangements with European minting houses and sold exclusively to the collector market, never circulating in Ouagadougou or anywhere else. The crocodile series belongs to a wave of African-themed colored silver issues produced largely by the Bavarian State Mint and similar contractors beginning in the late 2000s.
