| Additional information |
Gabon's wildlife bullion series was issued under the auspices of the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale, the regional central bank serving the six CEMAC member states. Gabon itself has no independent mint, so production was contracted to a European facility — the coins are legal tender in name, but were never intended for circulation and exist solely for the collector and investor market.
The cheetah is functionally extinct in Gabon; the species' last confirmed central African populations are further north and east.
