Additional information

The Central African Red Colobus (*Piliocolobus foai*) is endemic to a narrow range in Central Africa and has been classified as endangered, making it an occasional subject for the small commemorative gold programs that emerged from Francophone Africa in the early 2010s. These fractional gold issues — typically half-gram pieces struck for the collector market — were produced under licensing arrangements, with the actual minting handled by European facilities entirely outside the issuing country.

The Central African Republic itself has never operated a national mint.
