| Obverse description | Central device depicts the coat of arms of Gabon, featuring a shield quartered with three roundels above a sailing ship, supported by two black panthers rampant on either side, with a green tree atop the shield. A ribbon below the shield bears the national motto in three parts: UNION, TRAVAIL, and JUSTICE. The legend RÉPUBLIQUE GABONAISE arcs along the upper periphery in large raised letters, while the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is inscribed along the lower periphery. The entire design is rendered in antique finish, giving the field a matte, antiqued appearance. |
